TOPIC

Java EE

Java Enterprise Edition is the official Java platform for building enterprise Java applications. This is a standard, or in other words, there is a formal specification describing how this platform works and behaves.

Just like the Java runtime environment (JRE) provides a platform for running Java applications, the Java Enterprise Edition provides a platform for running enterprise Java application. Enterprise applications are, at the very basic level, Java applications, but possibly with some functionalities that are common to most enterprise use cases, like database connectivity, message queues, security and so on.

Learning how to write Java EE applications involves understanding the Java EE platform and using the features that the platform provides to implement these common enterprise application needs.
